Guidelines Channel Registration [Rules]

{Guidelines Channel Registration}

The purpose of this document is to provide the WebGamesNet users an official document containing the rules for channel registration and conduct in #support. It is the duty of the Support Staff to follow and uphold these regulations at all times while on WebGamesNet

General Informations:

••The mission of this network is to register channels that are of interest to the gaming community at large. This includes any channel which is gaming related or is of interest to gamers.
•Channels prohibited by the AUP are also illegal in these regulations as well. These channels include, but are not limited to: warez channels, cheat channels, porn channels, and mp3 channels.

Before to request ChanServ:
•You must be oped in a channel before it will be registered to you. There is only one exception to this rule: in a channel where there are no ops, it is a first come first served basic, regardless of how long someone else has had ops.

1/Channels which may be registered:

  1. A channel for a union of players (alliance, guild or something similar to it) from a game of the WebGamesNet or one of their partnership. This union needs to exist inside the game at the moment of registration with at least 3 members.
  2. A group of users, not playing inside an alliance/guild together, but would like to register a game-related channel need to have a web site or external board for their group including a list of the members. This page or board should have a bit of quality.
  3. Channels of bouncer-hosters and similar IRC-related service providers and BOTS stuff (complete website required).
  4. Channels about programming languages, game development and other programming-related topics (complete website required).
  5. Channels for radio stations.
  6. For channels according to rule 1a or 1b, the future owner needs to be member of the group/alliance/guild.

2/Channels which may not be registered:

  1. Channels having the same or a similar name like the user's accountname.
  2. Hate, 'anti' or similar channels against a specific cause.
  3. Channels containing insults, inappropriate words or other inappropriate strings in their name. This includes channels such as #fuck but would not include common abbreviations such as #stfu.
  4. Channels with illegal (Warez, MP3, etc.), pornographic or extremistic topics.
  5. Personal channels, used to contact an individual person or a specific group of people.
  6. Channels considered not being relevant enough by the support staff.
  7. Channels with a name consisting of 1 or 2 letters only.
  8. Channels containing the '$' character.
  9. Channels over 30 characters in length may not be registered.

3/Exceptions

  1. WebGamesNet reserves the right to deny registration of a channel without a special reason.
  2. There are no exceptions from these rules for users.
  3. Users violating the network or channel registration rules multiple times may be barred from future channel registrations.
  4. Staff members of WebGamesNet or one of their Partner's games may get "community event channels" registered, if these channels are necessary and useful for their position. In these cases, rule B1 does not apply. Such channels are only registered by the Network Management.

4/Channel Ownership

  1. Every channel remains property of WebGamesNet. Selling the ownership or access in a channel is strictly prohibited and may lead to unregistration or shutdown of the channel.
  2. If the owner (access 500) of a channel is inactive or absent for at least for 3 weeks, the highest ranked and active user who has at least 300 access in the channel, may apply for channel ownership in #help.
  3. If no User with Access 300 or higher visits the channel for 3 weeks, it will be automatically unregistered and may be registered again according to the rules above.
  4. 1 owner per channel in all circumstances
  5. Channels are to be registered to the current leader of the organization that the channel represents.(If you are not the leader of an organization, understand that the ownership of the channel may be taken from you if the leader requests it - it will be given.)

5/Enforcement of the Guidelines:

  1. If you think a channel violates one or multiple rules, you can report these violations to the Support-Staff at #help. Of course, all information are kept confidential and you will stay anonymous towards the channel owner and other users.
  2. On breaking the rules, ChanServ can be removed temporarily or forever from a channel.
WebGamesNet also reserves the right to shutdown a channel completely and permanently.
  3. Getting a channel registered under false pretences may also lead to the user being barred from future channel registrations or more consequences.

6/Miscellaneous

  1. If you are not satisfied with the decision of a teammember, you can contact a higher ranked one using this tree:
Trial Helper -> Support Helper -> Manager -> SupportManager -> NetworkManager -> Administrator
  2. If there is any ambiguity about a rule, interpretation of the rule is done by the management.
  3. The team can unregister/delete services at any time without any reason.
  4. The team can deny registration at any time and without any reason.
  5. Only administrators can choose to make an exception to the abovementioned guidelines.
